Family Tree Solution

Last night our grandchildren visited, and we had such a fun dinner conversation. They turned their phones off to hear about the lives of their ancestors! One story from my family history was about my great-grandfather who, as a baby, was crossing the plains with his family. He was put into a bucket and lowered into a well to keep him safe when Indians attacked. Or, was he put into the well so the wagon company wouldn’t be distracted from their drunken partying by his crying?
